Miss Marmalade, Brunswick

I have so much backlog it’s getting quite ridiculous. I have posts dating back a whole year that I still haven’t blogged about and I’m determined to get through them. One of these is actually a cafe that I really liked and have wanted to blog about for the longest time, I’m just not sure why it never happened until now.

Miss Marmalade was great.

Although it’s near the busy corner of Sydney Road and Brunswick Road in Brunswick, Miss Marmalade still felt like it was in a quiet and leafy location so you can enjoy a good brunch and coffee without all the buzz of the main roads.

It’s not a big place but we felt right at home when we entered. It was good that it was a sunny day, the staff were friendly and the decor comfortable and chic.

I loved the wooden furnishings and vintage looking decorations and water jugs. If you like the jugs, you can even purchase them in the cafe.

We obviously ordered coffees. I had my usual latte and Yuye got a cappuccino. They were strong and aromatic and made with beautiful art, just how I like it.

The food was in a world of its own. Many cafes offer heavy egg based meals that can leave you feeling quite bloated but Miss Marmalade has fresh healthy options like my Farmers Market ($16.60) which is a great vegetarian option as well. It consisted of home made corn bread, hash potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and the pick of market vegetables with a poached egg, micro herbs, parmesan and avocado crush. You can also add hollandaise to it for $1.5o which I did.

It was mixture of great flavours, colours and textures which left me satified and feeling good.

Yuye ordered the Jack’s cheese steak panini ($14) which was equally delicious with melt in the mouth, jus-braised beef brisket with caramelised onions, red peppers, bitey ‘Jacks cheddar’, aioli, coleslaw and a small salad on the side. You can add bacon to the panini for an extra $2 but we chose not to do so as it seemed a bit heavy otherwise.

It was definitely a good choice as it was tasty and quite filling too. Don’t you just love that heart shape?

It’s too bad Miss Marmalade is a bit far from me now or else I’d be a frequent customer for sure.

If you’re in the area, definitely give this little cafe a go!

This place looks great. I would have to put in under my to-go wish list. By the way, Your photography skills are superb! I’m a foodie like you too and I agree that imagery is so important for a blog. :) http://www.evelovelle.blogspot.com
